What irritation looks and feels like: burning, stinging, itching, red area on the skin. Products that commonly cause irritations include bath soaps, detergents, antiperspirants, eye makeup, moisturizers, permanent solutions, and shampoos. What an allergic skin reaction looks and feels like: redness, swelling, itching, fluid-filled blisters—generally more severe than an irritation.
