Which substances affect potency negatively?  

Very many substances affect man’s potency. A great number of releases was dedicated to investigations in this field. We ever as an answer to this question will shortly characterize a negative effect of the substances about which practically everybody have heard and many of us have even contacted. We are referring to wide-spread medications and the so called psychotropic substances, i.e. the substances affecting the psyche. First of all, they are alcohol, nicotine and dopey.  

Alcohol. In small doses it makes a stimulation effect on the central nervous system in man, but, as it is known, - “Alcohol in small doses is harmless in any quantities”. In this connection excessive use of alcohol becomes the main risk factor in the development of erectile dysfunction. The main reason of disruption of the quality of erections against alcoholic use is the disruption of the liver function and as a result – disruption of the exchange of male hormones, on which a normal sex functions depend. In addition, in drunken state the thigmesthesia is dull, and in consequence, there emerge problems of ejaculation arrival, down to its complete absence.  

Nicotine – is the main harmful substance, which the tobacco smoke, that we inhale, contains. The main pathologic effect of nicotine is an obstinate spasm (i.e. narrowing) of the vessels of tiny caliber, including those which provide blood to the penis. In addition, as it has been stated, nicotine provokes arteriosclerosis – a dangerous illness which leads to increased fragility and occlusion of the vessels. Most often arteriosclerosis affects the vessels of the heart and the brain, it may result in myocardial infarction or insult, which by themselves make sexual life impossible. Rather often there occurs narrowing or complete occlusion of the penis vessels – and in this case the patient will have an obstinate impotency.  

Dopes – nowadays it is the main problem for the public health of industrially developed countries of the world. Unfortunately, the problem has not passed Russia. The problem is that the number of the used dopes is very large, and it does not seem possible to describe the influence of everyone, that is why we shall describe the influence of some of them. The specific feature of the influence of dopes on potency is that it does not influence directly on the mechanisms of erection. Their influence is developed with regular dopey take against the development of aggravations of drug addiction. Common mechanism in emergence of impotence is the development of depression, which emerges with a break of drugs intake at the time when a drug addiction has been already formed.  

Most often doctors deal with non-injection type dopes (i.e. the dopes that come to the body not through injections, but through inhalation, taken by mouth, or while smoking). In this group the main place is given to Marihuana (Hashish), Cocaine, amphetamines, LCD (diethylamide of lysergic acid). The use of such preparations provokes a toxic polyneuropathy - a dangerous illness of nervous system, which results in a  sort of necrosis of nervous fibers of the body. This, apart from other dangerous disorders, leads to disruption of erections due to the disruption of the innervations of the penis.  

Development of polyneuropathy is also a representative of injection-type dopes (Heroin, Morphine etc.), but besides there is a danger of development of specific aggravations, connected with a big risk of the introduction of infection to which drug-addicts make themselves liable. The most frequent infection, which every injection-type drugs-addict risk to “contract” is not AUDS, as many people think (though it is, of course, the most dangerous infection), but virus hepatitis. Virus hepatitis provokes the very serious disruption of the liver function, which result in impotency.  

Medications. Of course, the development of erectile dysfunctions is a very rare side effect due to medicines taken, and as a rule, erections disruptions emerge after cancellation of such a medicine, but, nevertheless, one should know about the medications which may provoke such aggravations.  

Most often erections disruptions emerge after the intake of neuroleptics – the medicines that psychiatrists use in their practice of. With a long-time take these medications may provoke alterations in motor centers of the brain and may result in the development of parkinsonism – the state like Parkinson disease, which leads to erection disorders.  

Also potency-negative are some medications for the treatment of hypertension. In particular, “Clonidine”, “Adelphane”, “Cristepine”. These substances affect nervous terminals and as a consequence may provoke erection disruptions. Fortunately, nowadays these medications practically are not used.  

One more category of medicines – medications for the treatment of ulcer disease of the stomach from the group of blockers Н2 – histamine receptors. Those who take these medicines will understand whereof referred – first of all it is “Cimetidine”. It is an antiulcer medication which with a long-term intake leads to the alteration of metabolism of male hormones in the body, which results in impotency. So, ulscerous men keep your eyes open! If this medication helps you, you’d better use more up-to-date analogues like “Ranitidine” (“Ranisan”) or “Famotidine” which have no this serious defect as their predecessor has.
