After a certain degree of spread around the body, there is no cure for malignant melanoma. That does not, however, mean that you should lose hope if you have this diagnosis. The goal is to control the disease as best as possible, fighting the stray cancer cells with every tool available. Instead, through use of several cancer-fighting tools, including drugs (known as chemotherapy), radiation therapy, conventional surgery, and other promising experimental treatments, doctors can aggressively battle your cancer as it tries to take over more healthy cells.
